The South Cumbria Musical Festival was formed in 1976 and has developed over the years to become one of the most respected competitive events in the country. The Festival is well known for its high standards, friendliness and efficient organisation. It gives competitors an opportunity to perform on a stage in a beautifully refurbished venue, with ideal facilities.
All aspects of the performing arts are catered for in the many and varied selection of classes in music and speech. Individuals, schools and groups of all ages and standards can acquire invaluable experience and have the benefit of performing before an audience. The helpful comments and advice given by the renowned and often international adjudicators engaged by the Festival, gives competitors the stimulation to go on to further achievements.
Many bursaries are awarded to encourage our performers and to help advance their chosen discipline. Trophies and shields (to hold for one year) are presented in most classes, along with a printed certificate for First, Second and Third places. If you would like to join us, either as a competitor, member of the audience, or as a voluntary helper, please contact us. The Festival acknowledges and appreciates the generous sponsorship from many businesses and individuals.
South Cumbria Musical Festival relies on donations and sponsorship to help fund the running of the Festival. We also rely on our volunteers who help us during Festival week. Please contact us if you would like to help either with your time or financially.
